Yelp’s 2024 Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. list, released recently, highlights the popularity of Asian cuisine, with a quarter of the independent restaurants featured serving Asian, Asian fusion, or Southeast Asian dishes. Topping the list is Tumerico in Tucson, Arizona, known for its vegetarian Latin cuisine by chef-owner Wendy Garcia, a James Beard Award semi-finalist. This restaurant stands out for its dynamic menu, which changes daily based on seasonal ingredients, and has earned high praise with over 1,000 Yelp reviews.

This marks the 11th year of Yelp’s annual rankings, which are based on user ratings, review counts, and insights from Yelp’s community managers. The list shows a diverse range of cuisines with a notable presence in California, Florida, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. California leads with 18 restaurants, followed by Florida with 13. Yelp’s trend expert, Tara Lewis, emphasizes that the list reflects the diverse tastes of Yelp users and uncovers hidden local gems.

The majority of the restaurants on the list, over 85%, are budget-friendly with a price point of less than $30 per person. The top 10 restaurants showcase a variety of cuisines and locations. Since 2014, Yelp has recognized over 750 restaurants in more than 380 cities. This year also marks Yelp’s 20th anniversary as a review platform.
