Welcome to the 2023 edition of the top 10 best restaurants on Yelp! We’ve curated a list of the highest rated and most popular restaurants as reviewed by Yelp users this year. To help with this list, Yelp first reached out to Yelpers for their favorite dining spots and then ranked each by total number of submissions, ratings, reviews, and geographic representation, among other factors.

Without further ado, here is the top 10 best restaurants on Yelp in 2023:

1. Broken Mouth | Lee’s Homestyle, Los Angeles, California

Popular dishes: Local Plate (breakfast of grilled Portuguese sausage, two sunny-side-up eggs, and purple rice); Spam Musubi (with purple rice wrapped sushi-style in seaweed); or Plate Lunch with Garlic Shrimp or Teri Chicken. For vegetarians, there’s “perfectly crispy” tofu with house-made hot sauce. You can even order Hawaii’s Aloha Maid juice drinks to go with your meal. (There’s plenty of seating, but be prepared to wait as this small team cooks your food to order.)

Yelpers say: “Aloha is alive and well at Broken Mouth! Meat Jun (5/5): flavorful, tender, sliced beef, battered and deep fried. The purple rice is chewy, nutty, and a nice change from white or brown rice. Teri Chicken (5/5): As my co-worker put it, the chicken was cooked to perfection! The flavors were on point and reminded me of the plate lunches I grew up eating. The owner Timothy Lee is what truly makes Broken Mouth special. 2. Kaaloa’s Super Js Authentic Hawaiian, Captain Cook, Hawaii

Popular dishes: Lunch plates of tender and moist Pork Laulau or Chicken Laulau are Yelper favorites. The “nice and smoky” Kalua Pork with Cabbage also gets rave reviews, with a pork-to-cabbage ratio that leans heavily toward meat.

Yelpers say: “One of my favorite spots to eat on the Big Island! Such a sweet family-owned spot that you don’t want to miss, especially if you are driving through or in the area. I always love getting a plate—the Pork Laulau is the best I’ve ever had. They are always so friendly and it always feels like home when eating there.” —Yelp Elite Anna B.

3. Archibalds Village Bakery, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Popular dishes: Yelpers rave about the blueberry scones with lemon glaze (which Chef Justin developed in homage to blueberry Pop-Tarts), a moist lemon poppy-seed loaf, and the “best chocolate chip cookie in all of Broward County.”

Yelpers say: “Wonderful cute little English bakery with a lot of charm!! Delicious baked goods right off the beaten path of the beautiful beach at Las Olas Boulevard. This place is a hidden gem.” — Yelp Elite Aaron C.

4. Beyer Deli, San Diego, California

Popular dishes: Other fave sandwiches include the spicy Raging Bull (roast beef with chiles and provolone), BP Special (roast beef, turkey, and bacon), and Hot and Delicious (turkey and avocado). If you still have room, Yelpers also recommend the “fantastic” soups and chili.

Yelpers say: “I’m not sure you can miss with anything you order. I had a variety of their sandwiches and all were excellent. The Reuben, however, [was] easily one of my all-time favorites…the rye bread alone almost brought a tear to my eye. Overall impression: Customer service was outstanding, food was an awesome treat, and the price was pretty unbeatable.” —Yelp Elite Geoff L.

5. Adela’s Country Eatery, Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii

Popular dishes: Top sellers include Lechon (pork belly) Malunggay Pasta; Taro Pasta (with shrimp, luau leaves, mushrooms, and coconut cream sauce); and a Braised Short Ribs plate lunch with Garlic Green Beans. Or sample a little of everything by making your own noodle plate; choose from 6 pastas, 10 sauces, and 9 toppings. For dessert, there’s Ube Cheesecake made with the sweet purple yam; it’s “the perfect balance of ube and New York cheesecake flavors and richness,” according to Yelper Jason R.

Yelpers say: “If I could give Adela’s a 10-star review, I would! This is gourmet-quality food. The Macadamia-Encrusted Mahi Mahi was exquisite. We tried 3 types of noodles, each being more delicious. Our best meal on this island in 2 years—and the fact that the owners were so kind and helpful was the cherry on top. Our new favorite restaurant.” —Sonia C.

6. Sunbliss Cafe, Anaheim, California

Popular dishes: Milky drinks may be the headliners, but visitors and locals also crave the food—popular Sunbliss Açai Bowl, Ocean (smoothie) Bowl, and Classic Avocado Toast. In true SoCal fashion, the cafe accommodates special diets, so look for gluten-free, keto-friendly, and vegan menus, all prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Some best-selling drinks, like a Banana Bread Latte, are available seasonally—so watch for the Valentine’s Day menu.

Yelpers say: “Wow! I got the almond honey latte and my hubby got the Kepania (Spanish latte); both were fantastic! As a barista myself, I love to try out fun local spots. Their espresso is fantastic, and the fun layering of the drinks added the perfect touch for a great Cali coffee! Definitely will be coming back here.” —Brooke L.

7. The Nook Cajun Cafe, Norco, California

Popular dishes: Family-size trays of garlicky Cajun boils may be the hot seller, but fans also come for the Spicy Garlic Cajun Shrimps, “a garlic lover’s delight,” according to Prency.

Yelpers say: “Absolutely delicious! Cajun shrimp and other goodies…seasoned and soaked in flavor the way they should be. The extra-small tray, billed as feeding 2-3 people, could easily feed 4. They’re also not shy with the garlic, so don’t plan on kissing anyone for the next 2 days.” —Tony L.

8. Tumerico, Tucson, Arizona

Popular dishes: Yelper faves include huevos rancheros with fresh farm eggs smothered in a savory red sauce, and al pastor tacos with jackfruit marinated in a rich, red adobo sauce. Vegan tamale plates and pozole (vegetable soup with hominy) are also popular. Don’t forget a visit to the salsa bar for tasty homemade sauces.

Yelpers say: “Best food I’ve had in Tucson yet!!! Breakfast burrito with tofu, poblano peppers, and fixin’s, plus I added [vegetarian] chorizo. [Comes on a] perfectly toasted tortilla, deliciously seasoned Spanish rice, side salad full of fresh veggies, fresh guac, pico de gallo, and refried beans! So much bang for the buck! And if you’re eating in or taking to go, you must journey to the salsa bar!!” —Emma H.

9. Selam Ethiopian and Eritrean Cuisine, Orlando, Florida

Popular dishes: Shareable meat and veggie (or vegetarian-only) combos, with a handful of small side dishes and fluffy injera, are the overwhelming crowd-pleasers. Other favorites include clay pots filled with traditionally spiced chunks of beef or lamb sauteed in butter, onions, peppers, and tomatoes; fried triangular samosas; and kitfo, which is herbed, buttery minced steak with a house-made soft cheese.

Yelpers say: “Such a fun and delicious experience! Our server was so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable! The chicken samosas…were obviously handmade and fresh. We shared a meat-and-veggie combination special and a veggie plate. I loved all the different flavors and textures…the chicken and beef were both tender and flavorful. 10. Sababa Falafel Shop, Garden Grove, California

Popular dishes: Falafel, chicken, or ribeye pita with makali (a traditional side of fried eggplant, potatoes, and cauliflower that adds a satisfying crunch to any sandwich). Many diners order their pitas and bowls  “the Sababa way,” with hummus, purple pickled cabbage, a salad of tomatoes and cucumbers, Middle Eastern pickles, and tahini. For dessert, Yelpers recommend “unbelievably delicious” Peach Crumble.

Yelpers say: “Absolute perfection! They generously stuff your falafel pita sandwich with a glorious concoction of fried Arabic favorites: fries, cauliflower, and eggplant. I’m drooling just writing this. Superb fresh vegetables…and their hot sauce mixed with the hummus and tahini in the sandwich, divine. The staff is ultra-friendly and efficient.
